Disclosure of Information

You must take reasonable care not to make a misrepresentation to the insurer. This means that all the answers you give and statements you make as part of your insurance application, including at renewal and when an amendment to your policy is required, should be honest and accurate. If you deliberately or carelessly misinform the insurers, this could mean that part of or all of a claim may not be paid.

The information you give to us will be treated as private and confidential (even when you are no longer a client of ours), except where you request the information to be disclosed or the law requires us to disclose the information. Some or all of your information may be passed to insurance and other companies for underwriting, administration, claims and premium collection purposes. Your data will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Under this Act you have the right of access to see personal information about you that is held, either manually or electronically, on our records for which a charge will be made. If you have any queries please write to The Manager, Sky Insurance, Sky House, 28 Station Close, Potters Bar, Herts. EN6 1TL.

We and/or your insurers and/or credit providers may use publicly available data from a variety of sources, including credit reference agencies and other external organisations to verify your identity or creditworthiness, to avoid fraud, and to obtain beneficial quotes and payment options on your behalf. Each of the searches may appear on your credit report, whether or not your application proceeds.

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree to these uses of your information.

Our Charges

We receive our income from insurers who pay us a commission for arranging your insurance. If you wish to know the commission we earn we will be pleased to advise you. In addition to the commission we earn, we make the following charges:

£60.00 – For arranging a new policy.
£35.00 – If we find any discrepancies in the information provided to us by you or for any non-disclosure. This is in addition to any further premium that may be due.
£25.00 – For any renewal, mid term amendment (temporary or permanent), setting up of finance agreements or duplicate documents.
£50.00 – For any cancellation whether instigated by you, us or your insurer.
£15.00 – For collection of any arrears payments.
£20.00 – For retrieving and/or supplying copies of recorded phone calls and/or paper and/or electronic files.

All of these charges are in addition to any charge made by the insurers. In the event of a return premium being due, we will deduct our charges from the insurers refund and retain our commission.

If you are paying via a finance agreement/direct debit, your net return premium will be returned to your finance provider.

All the above charges are non-refundable.

Our Products

We offer a range of general insurance products and provide quotations on these after making a fair analysis of the market with the following exceptions:

  • Motor Legal Expenses is provided by Kindertons Accident Management
  •  Motor Breakdown is provided by Aria

All quotations given are inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the rate levied by HM Government.

We reserve the right to withdraw or amend any premium indications before they are taken up.

You have the right to cancel your policy at any time during the period of insurance. In order to do this, you must return your Certificate of Insurance or Cover Note, along with a letter confirming your instructions.

You also have a statutory right to cancel the policy within a short period of time after arranging the insurance cover. During this time, your insurers will provide a pro-rata refund and may also make an administration charge. We will also keep an amount that reflects the administration costs of setting up and cancelling your policy in line with the charges outlined above.

If you cancel your policy after the short period of time allowed under your statutory rights, your insurers may not offer a pro rata refund and we will retain our commission and fees as these are deemed earned upon your instructions to start cover.

If you have had any accidents, losses or incidents that may give rise to a claim during the period of insurance, no refund of premium will be given by the insurers.

If you are paying via a finance agreement/direct debit, cancelling the instruction will NOT cancel the policy.

We always strive to provide a high level service. However, if you feel we have failed in this area, you may address your complaint to a manager, in writing or by calling 03303 331250. Following our investigations, you may be entitled to refer your matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. You can contact them by telephone on 0845 0801800 and further information can be obtained at www.financial-ombudsman.co.uk. If you decide to refer any matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service, your legal rights will not be affected.

Protecting Your Money

Prior to your premium being forwarded to the insurer, and for your protection, we hold your money as an agent of the insurer and as such, your policy is considered paid for. We may extend credit to other customers from the account in which your money is held and may, in some cases, transfer your money to another intermediary. Your money will remain protected at all times because of the requirements of the FCA. We also reserve the right to retain the interest earned on this account.

By accepting these terms and conditions, you are giving us consent to operate in this way.

We are also covered by the Financial Services Compensations Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim without an upper limit for products where the insurance is compulsory, non-compulsory insurance products are covered on a flat 90% basis. Further information about the scheme arrangements are available from the FSCS.
